BMW Repair: BMW convertible top, convertible tops, motor werks

Question
When attempt to raise the convertible soft top it stops half way and the lid to the storage compartment does not pop up. I keep pressing the lift toggle but just stop at a certain point and won't budge, and the compartment top does not pop up. What can I do. It worked fine last week when I bought the car. It's a 1996 3 series convertible.

Your top  is unsynchronyzed , mostlykely because you need straps instaleed. you need to find someone who is very familliar with BMW convertible tops to fix the vehicle, they can be very costly to repair.   hope this helps    Nathan Babbitt (Babbitt Motor Werks)
