BMW Repair: 2000 BMW 323i CD player, bmw 323i, 2000 bmw 323i

I just bought a 2000 BMW 323i and everything works perfect on the car except the CD player. The CD player is a 10 disc changer mounted in trunk with a remote located in the front console. When I turn the player on with the remote I can see on the remote display that the CD is playing, but when I press the CD button (with the radio turned on), it will not switch from radio to CD. All of the other options work (cassette, am, fm). It would appear that all of the independent units are working correctly (CD player, radio), but the connection is not working(?).

That CD player is not a factory option on that car. BMW only makes 6 disc cd players and without remotes, but i have noticed that most of those aftermarket cd players are FM modulated so you play the cd then put the radio on a certain station usually a lower station on the fm dial.  hope this helps     thanks Nathan
