BMW Repair: 318i stalling right after I start it, rpms, screwdriver

My manual 1995 318i stalls right after I start the engine. It starts, goes up to 1000 rpms then seizes. It will only stay on if I hit the gas. It just started happening today and the only thing I did is refuel with 93 grade premium, the same fuel its always had.

Owen, this is usually a sticking idle valve issue. If you can get to the valve try tapping on it with a screwdriver or the like to free it. If the car starts then the idle valve is clogged or sticking. I would replace it or clean it with solvent. The prior being better.
