BMW Repair: 2001 540i BMW Steering Wheel memory loss, 540i bmw, memory function

I have telescopic steering.  My steering wheel continues to popup of the setting it was left on.  It occurs mostly when the car is exposed to hot weather.  It will ride fine in the morning.  The seat settings are not effected only the steering wheel. Is this a costly repair, how can I disable this from happening temporarily?

Paco, I believe that the memory function for the steering wheel is help in the same place for the seat position memory. The seat adjustment switch/module on the side of the seat. If you want to disable it find the fuse for the seat/steering wheel adjustment and pull it. You could also pull the connector for the steering column motors if you wished.
