BMW Repair: 92 325I BMW Alarm System, 325i bmw, bmw alarm

Question
I got a 92 325i BMW for my daughter, old with mega miles, and it has a keyless entry with alarm system.  Recently the Alarm/door locks will not work when the key pad is depressed.  I would like to disable the alarm so the car can be started with the key, and the door unlocked with the key.  The key pad light lites up, but the car makes no noises like the doors unlocking etc.

Answer
I can't say for sure why it isn't working.  I know mine (92 525I) quit working because inside the little chip in the key pad had come loose.  When I pushed it back in it started to work again.  Not sure if that is your problem or not, but you can check quickly by taking a small screw driver and taking it apart carefully.  If that is not it, I think you should be able to take out the battery (watch like) and it should work with key only.  Mine did when I quit using it.  Hope this helps.
