BMW Repair: Reverse light switch, e39 bmw, reverse light switch

I have a 520 E39 bmw 1996.The reverse lights have failed.Do you know where the switch is located.Thanks.

Adrian, on manual trans cars it should be on the side of the trans.
On automatic cars it should function through the gear selector to the instrument cluster and then to the light module. Check for voltage and ground at the bulb socket housing. Check supply fuse if needed.
