BMW Repair: BMW High Security Key Blanks, bmw north america, car salvage

Question
1996 BMW 328ic (last seven ET60613) - I've owned the car for 3 years.  Last week I lost the only key I had and the delaer won't make another because the previous owner(s) went through 10 sets for this auto.  Is there anyway to avoid replacing the central locking system ($1200 - $1500)?  Where can I locate the Phillips rolling codes and high security keys?  Assuming I get the codes & the high security blank, where can I get the key cut?  I'm frustrated at BMW North America's lack of assistance.  Please help...

Answer
Tom, I don't know of any other source for these keys. Why don't you order a rekey set with EWS control unit. Coded part number to your VIN, 51 21 9 068 737. Should come with Drivers door lock cylinder, glove box cylinder, trunk lid lock, ignition tumbler, and EWS control unit. I think you are going to have to bite the bullet or find another car (salvage) and get the EWS control unit, title, and order a key. You still don't a way to open your doors or trunk because you lost your only key.
