BMW Repair: Seat belt buzzer, airbag safety, passenger airbag

Question
I bought a new X3s in November and the seat belt buzzer goes off intermittently when my wife puts her purse on the passenger seat and the buzzer is continually going off when the vehicle comes out of the garage and the ambient temperature is freezing. I simply want to disconnect the buzzer but the dealer says he isn't permitted to do it. How do I do it??
PS reading another blog this is common on some other makes also.

Ron, you have an issue with the seat occupancy sensor in the passenger seat cushion. This controls the passenger airbag. If your car is under warranty why not make an appointment with the service department and have it replaced. I can't tell you how to unplug an airbag/safety component either.
