BMW Repair: 1999 E36 323i climate control irratic, resistor pack, element of doubt

Question
This model has the auto climate control with small LCD display. The fan speed only works up to  half speed then will not increase. This was intermittent and could be solved by switching the unit off then on again, but today will go no faster than 50%. I've read your previous answers & think it may be the resistor pack, but no one has suffered the same symptoms so Have an element of doubt and would appreciate your thoughts. Kind regards, Simon

Simon, I would try the resistor pack first. The module is more expensive. An The tip off for that is that the module will turn itself off. Or work intermittently. You could borrow one from a buddy or BMW club member. I don't deal with E36 all that often. So I don't know all the in's and out's
