BMW Repair: Transmission troubles, transmission troubles, winter program

Question
OK  I have a 1994 740iL  vin # WBAGD8324RDE88624 , what is happening, when you go to move the car, put it in to drive, the car acts like it wants to go in reverse! And wont go forward!   The switch on the left side of the shifter’  up for E (Automatic/Economy) and down for  * (Winter program) if you  put the switch down (Winter Program) the car will move forward’ fin and shifts in to all gears till you stop! Then
You have to set the switch back to (Winter Program) to get the car to move again, the transmission has been serviced only a month ago. I hope you can help me to get this working right!

Hi Gary!
What do you mean by "serviced"? Please tell me what specific things were done. And do you get any check lights, or check control messages (like Trans Fail Safe) ?
For your info, winter mode simply moves the car one gear higher with everything else being the same.
