BMW Repair: E46 LED conversion/ Switch, sport pkg, fog lights

Question
Hello,  I just recently installed LED tail lights on my 2003 E46 325i 4DR Sedan. It is Automatic with factory bi-xenons. Not sure if it matters, but it has premium pkg and sport pkg. The tail lights were flickering when I would turn the parking lights on, but not when I would have the headlights and fog lights on (for some reason, I absolutely had to have the fog lights on in order for them not to flicker), and I am talking continuous flicker, not just at start up. Anyway, I purchased a new light switch with a Software reading of 2.0 (I heard that this would do the trick). Well, it did. But, now when I turn the car on, there is a front light out warning on the dash. Also, when I turn the lights fully on, the front corners go out. I will say, the blinkers work fine no matter if the headlights, parking lights or no lights are on. I can turn the first setting (parking lights) on, but when I set it to the next setting to the right (headlights), the corner lamps turn off for some reason. You should know, this is after just a plug and play swap out.I haven't had anything reprogrammed yet. Do you think this could be the problem? Also, would it somehow change the software in the light switch, the one I had to get to make them work in the first place? If you can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Answer
Bob, not sure about the conversion aspect of the question but a plug and play doesn't work with the light module (it is a module and not just a switch). The module needs to be coded by the dealer. Most modules come in with German coding. Dealer should charge an hour or so. Start trouble shooting after getting the module coded. Coding doesn't change the software persay it just introduces the module to the vehicle's other modules. Ask if they can run the faults and give you a diagnostic report to look at faults and clear them.
