BMW Repair: 2001 330i misfire, computer glitch, gas computer

Question
I switched the coils and I hooked up the scanner before  starting the car to check the codes. The scanner said it passed and that no codes were detected. I did drive the car in between submitting my question to you and changing the coils. After the car was started I scanned it again, still no codes and it seems to be running ok. Can the ECM clear codes? If so, I'm still wondering what caused the misfires to occur.

-----Question-----
I have a 2001 330i with 51,000 on it. This saturday we drove the car for 30 min, parked it for 15min and restarted it.  The problem is that it had a very rough idle and we gave it a little gas and it died.  We restarted it twice, both times it immediately died.  I hooked up my scanner, it gave me two trouble codes: P1350 and P1342.  The next morning it restarted with a slight miss. I replaced the battery two weeks ago and replaced the spark plugs yesterday and noticed it has Bosch coils, not Bremi coils. Can you give me some information on where I should be looking for the problem?
-----Answer-----
Dear Derek,
FC P1342 means a misfire was noticed by the engine computer at startup in cylinder no.1, P1350 is misfire in no. 5.
To find out if the problem is in the ignition coils, shuffle the coils. Transfer coil in cylinder 5 to 4 or 6. Transfer coil in cylinder 1 to 2. Clear faults (since you have a scanner) and run the engine, or roadtest for 2 to 6 miles.
Then re-check for misfire faults. If the faults followed the coils that you transferred, then the coils are bad (replace  coils including boots).
Update me with your findings.

Answer
Hi Derek,
This is a case of "could not duplicate customer's complaint, no fault codes on record, diagnosis not possible at this time."
The cause can be anything really...bad gas, computer glitch,
etc.
But the ecm/dme can not clear fault records fast, it has to go thru a cycle of startups with no faults being seen before faults get dumped by the computer (something like 45 starts or more approximately).
Just wait for the vehicle to act up again and then scan it and tell me what you get.
