BMW Repair: 2001 330i Stalls Engine Light, obd scanner, dashboard area

Question
I just bought my 2001 330i with 57,000 miles a couple of weeks ago.  I went to the store and upon leaving, the engine stalled.  I didn't think anything about (thought maybe I shifted into drive too soon).  I drove home a few miles with no issues.  My wife sent me back to the store because I forgot something.  My car stalled leaving the driveway and the "Engine Light" came on.  I was able to get it started and and went to the store.  It stalled twice leaving the store and I felt like I limped it home. The engine light remains on. Being a new BMW owner, I'm afraid and worried about what it can be.  Please lend me your expertise.  I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer
Hi William !
Most probably your car just needs either an exhaust or intake cam sensor which you can replace yourself.
But before jumping into conclusions, bring your car to a nearby Autozone or Kragen parts supply store, or any other parts store that would scan your beemer for free. Then tell me the fault.
Or, invest in your car's well-being by buying an OBD scanner from the same stores (what kind, there are many depending on your spending capability, is up to you). Connect scanner to the OBD socket beneath the driver's  dashboard area, read the fault, and get back to me with the fault codes (and description if any provided by the scanner's documentation).
Have a good one...
