BMW Repair: 87bmw325is tail and dash lights out, bmw 325is, liscence plate

1987 BMW 325is. my tail lights, the inside middle break light, and my dash lights went out.  I've also been having a problem with the car not starting, i got power but the starter doesn't work and it only happens time to time. when this happens, normally my liscence plate check light comes on when it does this.

 Unfortunately there is no majic fix for this problem.  It sounds like you have a wire grounding-out to the body somewhere.  Rodents love wire casings, and they will chew through them like candy.  I would pull up the carpet in the trunk and check all those wires to make sure nothing is bare or rubbing on the frame.  You will just have to start tracing wires to see where the problem is.
