BMW Repair: 87 325 head swap, head gasket, bmw forums

Question
unrelated to the head swap, but relevent to all years of bmw's i am getting some inconsistancy in my throttle under load. it flucuates, at worst, 100 rpm under load, and under med to heavy acceleration it spuradically jumps by 100 rpm instead of being a smooth arch. i was told it may be a faulty injector, what can i do to come up with a more accurate diagnosis and fix?

'87 325, some tell me is an e. never the less has 2.7 litre 6 and has blown head gasket, also i am doing all top end gaskets and timing belt plus all necassary seals.  if i want to put a 325i or 525i head on my block will all the stock 325e parts(ie. gaskets and seals) work in the swap and what year heads will be compatible and give the best output?

Answer -
Jordan, I have no idea. I am good only with newer stuff. This question has got to be covered in BMW forums and Magazines across the land. Good luck in you research. At least you are doing your homework before pulling the trigger on anything and you have to respect that.

Answer
Jordan, check your intake boots for cracks and tears. Clean the throttle body and check the throttle switch on the bottom of the throttle and make sure it is adjusted correctly. Also clean out the idle valve with solvent or carb cleaner. Check your tune up components too.
