BMW Repair: Oil change interval, oil change interval, brake rotor

Question
I have a 318i 1997 which I bought when it had 154k miles on it. I drove it for 7k miles, and the Service Interval Display (oil service, i.e. green illuminated lamps) decreased from 5 to 2. Do I need to change the oil now, or it is ok to wait until the green lamps disappear?

what kind of extra servive my car need if the yellow or red light appear? I did full service in BMW dealership when I bought the car.

Thanks!

Answer
Reza, Your indicator tells you when your oil service or inspection is due. The indicator alternates between the two.
15,000miles - Oil Service
30,000miles - Inspection 1
45,000miles - Oil Service
60,000miles - Inspection 2

Then the cycle repeats. So at approx. 150,000miles you did an Inspection 1 and at 165,000miles you'll need an Oil service. If you consume more fuel such as long idling or stop and go traffic your Green LED's will diminish faster. I would change the oil & filter now at 7K but leave the Indicator until 165K then reset it to get back on track. Your car takes 15W-40 conventional oil, but If you wish you can put a similar weight Synthetic oil in if you wish. I suggest changing the oil in between intervals, but you don't have to.  The yellow LED means service is due and the red one means it's over due. The oil service consists of this:

Change Oil and Filter
Check Tire Wear and Adjust pressures
Check Brake Lining Thickness
and Brake Rotor Thickness/Cond.
Replace Microfilter (If applicable)
Reset Indicator
