BMW Repair: Overheating Problems Complicated, blown head gasket, aluminum head

Question
I have a 1993 325i, i knew my car needed an oilchange but with work, i had not been able to do it yet.  I got to work and i saw white smoke coming out of the front, i stopped the car and didnt turn it on again. My husband noticed that radiator line (the top one) was a bit chipped/broken, so we bought the top line and put it and my husband put coolant aswell. I turned the car and went home, 1/2 way home the thermostat light turned on, i made it home and getting close to my house, again smoke.  Stopped it and my husband says that motor oil came spilled in the bottom, he turned it on to move it a bit and it sounded weird, he is really worried.

Answer
There probably was air in the system seeing you just replaced an upper hose.Try bleeding the system of air via the screw on the water outlet housing.

I am sorry that you felt that my answer wasn't enough for you to start with.My thoughts of what the problem that is at hand? You have overheated your engine and white smoke is coming out of your exhaust. That is a sign(white smoke)of coolant in the exhaust system, a blown head gasket if not a cracked head.Overheating the engine may have warped the aluminum head and that may be able to resurfaced and reused.
Having oil spilled on the bottom and weird noise? My thoughts are that could be bad.Hopefully not but something may have been thrown through the block.I can not see the car from where I am.I think you need to take it to a respectable garage and have it looked at,I would not try to drive it if oil is leaking out and coolant being used.
