BMW Repair: The cruise controll on my 88 735i went out after having front struts replaced and wheels re-aligned, loose wire, rough spot

Question
I suspect that the wire connecting the C.C.switch to the steering wheel was left loose, because the tech. removed the steering wheel while aligning the wheels.
After that the cruise control, when engaged on the highway would cut in and out when-ever I would hit a rough spot in the hi way or cross a bridge with some vibration. Now it does not come on at all.
Could that be the problem or could a suddenly bad Cruise control switch give such a symptom as that?   Thanks for taking my questions. Awaiting your expert answer.   -Andrew

Answer
Honestly both a bad switch and a loose wire would be very likely culprits. Since replacing the switch will only take a few minutes I would do the easy thing first... a CC switch can be aquired off ebay for about $10 I would get one replace it and see if that takes care of the problem if not... its cable hunting.

Hope that helps,
