BMW Repair: BMW 323i 1999 problems, engine thermostat, bmw forums

Question
Hello,

I have 1999 323i, 4 door sedan. For a while a had service engine yellow light come up, but it was going away. For the past month or so I have service engine light, ASC light and EML yellow lights on. When they are on car is sluggish, there is a loss of power and there is almost no acceleration. It takes a while to get from 1st gear to next one.

At first it was going away after 10 to 30 min, but it is on for past 4 days. I am not sure what to do.

I did some reading on bmw forums and some suggest that it might be camshaft position sensor.

If if helps, my friend connected it to his computer and following codes showed up:
176 - Pedal Travel Sensor 2, Adaptation
Also error codes:123, 40 and 169.

I appreciate any help.

Thank you,

Andrzej
