BMW Repair: 1999 BMW 528 Check Engine Light FC245/246, air control valve, 1999 bmw 528

Question
Fault codes 245/246>it pertains to secondary air system obstructed air flow. This is all the resource that I've got.
Where is the secondary air pump and valve located and what do I need to do? Do I need to replace just the valve or both: valve and pump. It may be a vacum hose to the valve the problem?
Your assistance is being appreciated.

Thanks,LP

Answer
OBD codes p0491 and p0492
The computer does not see a change in the o2 readings when it turns the airpump on to test it.
Possible problems are a bad air pump (full of water?),a bad airpump relay, a bad check valve, a bad vac control solenoid that supplies vac to the air control valve,a vac hose problem, or a bad solenoid itself.
The airpump is located in the right front of the engine compartment. It should run when the engine is first started cold.
If you dont know how to check the system from this info then you will need to have your mechanic have a look.
