BMW Repair: Tires for 2002 BMW M3, pirelli p zero, bmw m3

Question
Hi Paul,

After 20+ thousand miles the rear tires (Michlin Pilot Sport 255/40ZR18) have worn out in the center of the tire.  I understand that this is about average tire life and wear pattern.  I want to replace the rear tires only, as the front tires(Michlin Pilots) are still OK,

What are the best tires to get:
Michlin Pilots (ZR)
Pirelli P Zero
Bridgestone
Other?

Thanks,
Allan Edwin

Answer
the tires should wear evenly. the rear will wear out quicker due to aggressive starts and stops and of course doing burnouts. you generally want to keep the same tire on the car because different tires will have different handling characteristics. any tire is a good tire to use as long is it is a known brand and you stick with the same rating and size.
