BMW Repair: BLOWER MOTOR / DASH LIGHTS, dashboard area, knife switch

BLOWER MOTOR ONLY WORKS WHEN DIAL IS AT THE HIGH POSITION. TRYING TO TROUBLESHOOT FROM THE EASIEST POSSIBLE SOLUTION UP TO THE HARDEST.

BOTH THE ODOMETER & THE TRANS SELETION INDICATOR ON THE DASH DO NOT LIGHT UP. I TOOK THE DASH OUT AND REPLACED BURNT OUT BULBS (MAYBE MISSED BULBS FOR THESE ITEMS) THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP

Answer
The blower speed working on high only is probably due to a bad blower resistor. The resistor is located behind the lower dashboard area. You access it from the passenger side foot area. I believe on this model it looks similar to a knife and is sometimes referred to as a knife switch. The dash lights-you may have missed the ones that light that area, they are usually smaller than the ones that illuminate the whole instrument cluster
