BMW Repair: 1987 bmw 528e, fuel pump relay, bmw 528e

Question
I am considering buying a bmw 87/528e.  I was told the fuel pump relay was not working.  The fuel pump does not engage when I turn it over.  I bought the book and I can not find the fuel pump relay anywhere.  Where is it located?  Can I do a check to see if it is working or can it be something more.  The fuse is good.  The car has been sitting in a garage for five years and is seldom drove.  I have driven it and it runs great once it starts.  Could it be another problem?

Thanks for your help

Answer
What makes you think it's bad if it starts up? when you first turn the ignition ON  can you hear the pump spin for a couple secconds then stop?  The best way to check it is start the car and check the voltage at the fuel pump, if you have power the pump is dead if you don't...
attempt to trace the wire from the fues box, i'm not sure where the relays are located on that car (perhaps under the rear seat?).  check the haynes manual electric section, they may have a few spots to check.
sorry i can't be of more help!
