GMC Repair: Fuel Level Sensor, fuel level sensor, level sensors

Question
I have a 2006 GMC Envoy, 4Wd, 6 cyl motor- had a diagnostics test done and it read that my fuel level sensor is going out.  The guy who did the test at Auto zone said that he could not find a part for just this and the whole fuel pump would need replaced.  Is this accurate or is there a way to just change out the fuel level sensor?

Also, how do you correct the steering wheel angle sensor- that came up on the diagnostics test too.

Answer
Hi
I am not a parts person, however MOST later model 2005 and up GM level sensors ARE usually able to be replaced without pump module replacement. The procedure is the same as the fuel pump replacement. Check with your local GM dealer for part verification.
The SWP (steering wheel position) angle sensor is located at the base of the steering column, inside the vehicle. It is ususally just held in by plastic clips.
