GMC Repair: 2004 GMC Sonoma, gmc sonoma, vin number

Question
QUESTION: Hello, we have a truck that tends to not start when it has rained outside.  The mechanic has said that for some reason, the truck's anti-theft system is treating rain as if it's a potential burglar and therefore is shutting down its ignition.  Do you have an idea what could prevent this, or if there would be any way possible to disengage the alarm system so this may stop happening?  Thank you.

ANSWER: OEM radio? Look on the radio and see if anything is printed on the radio itself saying anti-theft. For this to happen, the sensitivity is set much too high. After market alarm?

QUESTION: Thank you, I will try and check that out.  How would I go about lowering sensitivity, if that is in fact what is actually causing problem?  Thanks.

Answer
If it is a factory option. I, we, or you will need to skim the internet to find the code for your particular VIN number entered on the preset buttons. If it is an aftermarket, you will need to locate the interface, usually under the dash or hood. I have removed a few alarms as per customers.
