GMC Repair: distributor cap, gmc savana, distributor cap

Question
We have a 1999 GMC Savana. The van starts when it is not snowing or raining. We were told the distributor cap may be to blame. We can't figure out where it is at to change it. I have looked on line to find something to help but there is nothing! My hubby needs to know where it is at and how to change it. One more thing the side double doors do not open. One side opens just from the outside and the other will only open a inch or so. There is a metal bar that swings free and is not connected to anything. Can we fix it so we can open the one side from the inside or not. Thank you

Answer
the distributor cap is where the mainspark plug wires go into some of them are round and  about 4-5 inches round. So look at the spark plugs and follow the wire to the cap. It should be just a couple of bolts or screws. Ok Next ? Yes you should be able to fix the bar if the bolt fell out bolt one back in. The other door that will not open from one side, their is a rod that goes into the handle from the latch that may have fallen off, take the interior trim panel off and take a peek inside. Remember to take off the trim panel take off screw usually have caps on them lift from bottom and then sides and then up and out then you should be able to see everything inside the door Good luck. if you need anything else let me know on collision repair advice.com
