GMC Repair: IAH probelm 2002 GMC HD2500, bf goodrich tires, heater element

The 540 DTC showed up again, so I will probably be replacing the Intake Air Heater relay on my 2002 GMC Duramax w/ Allison trans for the 3rd time since I purchased the vehicle new from local dealership. I run 285 BF Goodrich tires and the truck has 101,000 miles. Is that an extraordinary problem or not? I have a California vehicle, so the glow plug relay is separate and a non-issue correct?

I would look at possible causes for the relay burning.
A small short to (-). A bad heater element. Poor contact at the element.
I have seen one burn 2 relays, but not 3.
And corerect the glow pug is a seperate relay inside the relay box.
You MAY want to try to find a relay box aftermarket if avalible.
