GMC Repair: 89 chevy 1500 front axle, chevy 1500, floor shift

greetings, got a 89 4x4 that wont engage, looked under and noticed passenger side axle sticking out about 3" from housing, must have come out of something inside, just spins when jacked up and locked in from floor shift, need a exploded view to see if there is a clip that holds shaft in, tried to push back in and wont go, must be something fell down, had engager on axle changed before i got it, could that effect it. i know nothing about ifs type axles. thanks

I do not have any information on a 1989 unit, but the right axle yube will unbolt from the carrier assy. I am sure the spacer washer dropped, and the is blocking the axle from being able to be pushed in.
It is a common, especially when the right outer axle seal gets replaced the axle is pulled and the washer drops.
