GMC Repair: engine wont start and vehicle shakes, gmc yukon xl, 2003 gmc yukon xl

Question
I have a 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 70000 miles with constant problems.  When we first got it the battery was dead more often than not.  Replaced and seems that problem is gone.  Next is the AC stopped working and we replace the tensioner belt and the thumping noise continues upon acceleration.  Also the thing repeatedly will not start.  It seems worse in damp weather.  It will turn over and the acts like it is not getting fuel.  We have replaced the fuel filter twice, once just last week.  The problem continues.  When it tries to start it shakes the whole vehicle.  If you pour a little gas in the tank it usually fixes the problem.  It happens mostly when the tank is below 1/2.  Are any of these problems related and how can I fix it?

Answer
Hi
The A/C noise is the Compressor. It is a VERY common problem. It is caused by Low pressure liquid slugging.
IF the 8th digit of your VIN is a "Z" I would also HIGHLY suspect the fuel tank module as being the culprit on your stalling/not starting/wrong fuel level indicated.
This also is a VERY common problem ESPECIALLY with a "Z" motor.
Please follow back if needed.
I hope this helps
