GMC Repair: starting, chevy malibu, automatic tranny

Question
on a 2003 chevy malibu with a 3.1 automatic tranny. i bought it for cheap because the fool broke the shift cable on the ignition switch, my question is with the shift cable broke,  after install the new switch and tumbler does the shift interlock cable need to be inside the ignition swich to start or does the new tumbler& key need to be reprogrammed

Answer
Hi
Both need to be done. I would put the interlock in first, mount your ignition switch, then the switch and Passlock sensor program.
I guess re-reading the question, the interlock does not need  to be installed to START the car.
I Hope this helps.
Good Luck
