GMC Repair: My Envoy sounds like it is pinging.., exact cause, oil changes

I have a 2003 Envoy SLT (68,000 miles) and I have noticed that it sounds like it
is pinging.  I have always been good about the oil changes and putting the
correct grade of fuel...however it makes this loud pinging noise.  Is this
something I should worry about?

If it is pinging while driving, more specifcally under heavy acceleration or load, It is most likely a spark knock.
I personally would advise taking it to a local repair shop and having a live set of ears listen to it, to determine exact cause and proper repair.
