GMC Repair: 2001 chevrolet malibu electrical problems, chevrolet malibu, gas gauge

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu which the gas gauge, temperature gauge, radio, and defroster go out intermittently.
I have asked several mechanics, and they all point to a possible short, but where to start?

Hi
I would not suspect a short, I would suspect either an Intermittently open circuit or a bad ground circuit.
After looking over the individual circuits, I would have someone check groung G202, located on the left side (drivers side)  left side of the instrument panel, near the junction block.
Also chek the battery ground, the ground cable and the grounding stud or point.
That is where I would start.
