GMC Repair: transfer case control mod, speed transfer case, wrecked unit


Question
i have a 1999 gmc jimmy 4.3l it has a np8 transfer case with a 4 button 4wd switch when i start it all the lights light up on the switch and do not go off until i run the vehicle for a while seems like once the tccm gets warm it starts to work and i can shift from any gear i want from 4hi 4lo 2hi and 4wd auto no problem it only starts not to work again if i shut it off and start the vehicle again then i have to wait just not as long i replaced the 4 button 4wd switch but it did not fix the problem the garage wants almost a 1000 dollars for a new tccm if it is the problem i would like to get one at a salvage yard i would like to know also what vehicles gmc put the same transfer case control modules in to make my search easier thank you hope you can help the part# on the tccm is 15154323

Sounds like your on the correct path.
I do not have access to Parts, sorry.
I can tell you that the "T" series (Jimmy, Blazer and Bravada) and the "K" series (Silverado and Sierra) had the NP8 2 speed transfer case as options in 1999.
What other years, etc... I cannot tell you.
As far as Salvage, I sternly believe in used parts, as long as they come from a WRECKED unit. Most Slavage yards SHOULD be able to locate your part by part # and or interchange #.
Price a new one from GM, $1000 sure sounds high for a "dumb" module meaning it has no classII abilities.
