GMC Repair: 96 gmc sierra a/c problem, gmc sierra, plastic ducting

Question
I have a 96 Gmc Sierra 4.3 V6. When I turn the a/c on, the blower will only come on when i put it all the way on high. so other speeds work, and nono of the illumination works. Switching the vents to floor to defroster still works and seems like the temperature works. The blower just wont work on all speed.

Answer
Hi.
Depending on your abaility, I can tell you how to EXACTLY check to pinpoint either the blower resistor, or the control head.
If this just started, I would suspect the contorl head.
They are pretty common.
The blower resistior is located behind the glove box, on the top part of the hard black plastic ducting that comes from the blower motor.
You may also want to check the blower motor plug, up about 6-8 inches from motor. The purple and black wires go into another connector.(2 terminal connector). That connector is VERY common problem maker. If you can pull the connector apart, inspect the terminals, make sure they are not burned.
If you CANNOT pull it apart, chances are they have melted together, and you can cut and splice the wires together until the connector can be replaced.
If more help is needed, please let me know.
Good Luck
