GMC Repair: 1995 gmc truck a/c problem, gmc sierra, gmc truck

About 2 weeks ago, I was pulling into my driveway and the a/c quit. When it did I heard a slight squealing sound so I thought it was the blower motor and so I changed it. Same results, it would run about 3-5 minutes and quit. I changed the relay switch same and got the same reults.I changed the relay switch again same results, I was wondering if I am missing something, I live in the hot arizona desert and it is awful without the ac. As of now I have a new relay swith and new motor, it is a 1995 gmc sierra 1500 4x4 305 motor with a/c. Any suggestions?

Is the compressor coming on?
where did the noise come from....underhood, or under the dash.
You say it works for 3-5 mins....is that just the blower inside the truck, or does it actually cool for 3-5 mins then blow hot.
