GMC Repair: 2002 GMC Yukon SLT - ABS NOISE, brake warning light, gmc yukon

Question
Hi, we have a 2002 GMC Yukon SLT 5.3liter with 98,000 miles. There is a noise coming from the vehicle when parked and  ignition of. I traced the niose to a module under the car just inside the frame about midway along the driver's door. Guessed it was part of the ABS, since the ABS warning light also on. Anyway, I've pulled the 60A fuse, noise stops. I've test driven the vehicle and brakes work fine, obviously now with both the brake warning light on in addition to the ABS light.
Is the problem with this noisy module, and if so can I replace it myself? I'm reasonably competent mechanically. Secondly, even though I'll be driving without ABS (done this for yers on old cars!) is this OK or could there be something else wrong? Please note that about 3,000 miles ago the brake system had a full overhaul, rotors, pads, adjustment etc by a GMC dealership.

Answer
Hi
The noise is the ABS pump motor stuck on due to an internal short inside the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module).
Using GM or Delco parts the fix will set uyou back around $1000.00 (+ or - 100.00)(ESTIMATE). I DO NOT know if it is avalible aftermarket, you can check your local parts stores.
Only 4 screws holding it in, T20 torx screws and 3 electrical connectors. You'll need to use a T20 on a 1/4" ratchet as there is limited space ABOVE the EBCM.

As far as driving with it, I would unplug the connector from under vehicle and put the fuse back in.
Also all you'll be doing is basically driving it with out ABS, BUT I will not recommend either way, thats YOUR decision. You should not harm any other subsystem..
The 3000 mile ago brake service is just a coincidence .
I Hope this helps.
JUST ADVICE from experience.
Good luck
