GMC Repair: AC blower motor, ambient light sensor, gmc safari

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2000 gmc safari van ,6cyl. The blower would not blow on high so I changed the blower resister and it would blow on high for a while then die back to low. If I change the select switch to low then high again it would blow on high then die back to low. Is the blower bad ??

ANSWER: Hi
I would check the plug of the Blower resistor and the plug for the motor. Make sure they are not burned.
If possible I would also monitor voltage going to the motor, and see if it stays at 12 volts on high, when it is "slowing down". If it stays at 12v, it probabally is the motor. If not, it may be a faulty resistor.
Just advice from experience.
Hope this helps

QUESTION: Thank you for that info it took care of the problem...Now I have another question,I want to run my van at night with the a/c on and not have the headlights on while I am inside studing in the parking lot at school.I have tried everything I know but I can't get the headlights to turn out. What can I do...

Answer
Hi
I see a few things you can do.
remove the headlamp relay underhood fuse box, just make sure to plug it back in.
You can unplug the Ambient light sensor, the small "dome" shaped sensor in the center top of dash.
You could see if the switch could be flicked back past the Auto feature.
I hope this helps.
