GMC Repair: ran out of gas, chevy venture, gm vehicles

Question
We think that our 2001 Chevy Venture ran out of gas, but when we added gas it still would not start.  Is there a trick like at reset button, etc?   Maybe the van was not out of gas in the first place?  Any help?

Answer
Hi
No switch, no trick.
If it still will not start, You'll need to see if you have fuel pressure (GM vehicles have the fuel pump in tank). One purpose of this is to keep the pump submerged in fuel to help keep it cool.
Alot of times, when a vehicle runs low or out of fuel, the pump overheats and the impellers of the pump sieze.
Not saying this happened to yuor van, but it is a possibilty.
I would check for fuel pressure (35-42psi). I would also make sure vehicle is getting fire.
Check the basics first.
I hope this helps
