GMC Repair: 4x4 Not working, gmc sierra, sierra 4x4

Question
Hi, ive got a 2001 gmc sierra 4x4 z71. Recently i did the front axle outer seals that alwasy seem to leak, right after that my front diff dosent seem to be engaging, i can hear the transfer case moving and then the front diff actuator lock but when you start moving there is no power to the front wheels. After looking around online my only thoughts is that it could either be the diff fell apart when removing the axles to do the seals or maybe the motor inside the transfer case is bad and is still sending a signal to the front actuator but not actaully moving the gears to give power to the front.

Any help or advice would be helpful

Thanks

Answer
Hi
I would put the cause more towards the Transfer case Encoder motor.
If you just changed the outer axle seals, the differential SHOULD not have fallen apart, UNLESS you had a pre exsisting problem inside the Differential.
I would take it to a reputable 4x4 shop that deals with this system, and get them to check the Encoder motor.
Just advise from experience.
Good Luck
