GMC Repair: Oil Pan Change in 2001 Chevrolet Blazer - V6 Engine, chevrolet blazer, 2001 chevrolet blazer

Question
What is the best way to change an oil pan in a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer with a V6 engine? Is it best to drop the transmission and go in from the bottom or some other method? There's lots of noticeable wiring and did not want to have to make a lot of disconnections and re-connections.

Answer
Hi
I beleive you can get it out by dropping the tranny, but I think removing the engine would also be an alternate method. It has been quite a while since I have done one of these. All published manuals say to remove engine and replace pan. I think it will squeeze out from the bottom, though. Either way, looks like quite a job. Labor time pays 8.5 hours, so it's a big one.
again good luck and If I can help in any other way, let me know.
