GMC Repair: constant clicking in signal flasher-behind glove box on 1998 jimmy, turn signal flasher, turn signal switch

Question
QUESTION: As soon as you start truck the flasher behind glove box clicks as if signal is on constantly -signals work normal when turn signal is activated.Flasher was replaced to no avail.
ANSWER: Hi
I would first check the ground(s) for the turn signal flasher circuit.
If clean and properly torqued, I would suspect the Turn Signal Switch (Multi Function Switch) located on the steering column.
Just advise from Experience.
Hope it Helps

QUESTION: I,m sorry i forgot to add that when brakes are applied the ticking stops.Could this still be the turn signal switch?

Answer
Hi
Yes this is VERY possible as the brake lamp circuit passes through the multifunction/turn signal switch.
I think, without actually seeing vehicle, your on the correct path with the turn signal switch.
Again I must say, this is just advise from experience.
Hope it helps
