GMC Repair: 2001 Buick Century - brown oil-like liquid in antifreeze, dexcool coolant, intake manifold gasket

Question
I had my radiator flushed 2X, once at 7,000 miles and again recently at 37,000 miles. I chnaged the fluid from the pink Dexron to green at 7,000 miles. There is a brown oil-like liquid showing up on top of the antifreeze. I took my car to have it checked out and the mechanic could not anything wrong with it. Could this be a headgasket problem, maybe a seal is leaking or do you know if this could be a chemical reaction whem the pink and green antifreeze mix. I have not had pink antifreeze put in my radiator since the 7,000 mile flush, however, I imagine there could be some residue left from the Dexron.  What do you think I should do?  Or what do you think this problem could be.

Answer
Hi
Since you have been using the green coolant for such a long time I'd stick with it.
I would suspect the Lower Intake Manifold gasket leaking, if in fact that it IS oil in the Coolant. I would say take it to another mechanic/shop and just get a second opinion.
As i stated in a prior post, according to trade publications I have read, there is no adverse reaction in the mixing of the Ethylene Glycol (green) coolant and the red Dexcool coolant. If the vehicle was professionally flushed, which it sounds like it was,  the substance SHOULD NOT be anything to do with the different coolants.
Experience I have had was air getting into the coolant system (via the faulty manifold gaskets) and mixing with coolant to form this substance under the heat and pressure of the cooling system. If in fact it is your gasket leaking, have your mechanic change the Radiator Cap also to a Stant cap for your application, or a new one from the dealership.
Again I must say to any fellow Mechanics, I am only providing advise and  sharing personal experience.
Thanks
Paul
