Question2002 5.3 GMC serria Pickup electronic speed control.
Question How do I raise Idle Speed. Mine Idles at 400 RPM which I feel is to slow.
Also it has recently developed an engine jump at start take off. while slowing down coming into an intersection, attemp to start up again truck will jump into a high speed with no smooth transition.
this has just became noticeable.
always been smooth up till now.
Only thing changed was eng oil.
Tried useing Syn blend oil instead of strait 5/30
can this change eng performance.
Answerno it is not the oil, what you need is an engine decarbon. The throttle blade is being choked with carbon deposits.
You can do this yourself by purchasing some Spray Top Engine Cleaner from your local dealer, and spraying it into the throttle body while it is running for a few seconds. Then turn the truck off and use a tooth brush to scrub the throttle plate front and back with some Top Engine Cleaner, after you clean the plate then start the truck and run it while you spray the remainder of the can into the throttle and you should be o.k.
When your idle drops down do this, it may happen every 15-30,000mi.
