GMC Repair: Seat Belts, spray lubricant, gmc yukon

Question
We have a 2002 GMC Yukon.  We are having a problem with the driver seat belt in that it squeaks constantly.  We brought the car in to the dealer and they told us we need to replace the seatbelt/harness.  The cost will be $350. Our car has never been in an accident. Is there a TSB on this problem.  We can't believe we need the seatbelt replaced in a car under 4 years old unless there is some type of manufacturer's defect.
Appreciate your help.

Answer
Sorry, but that is the truth. You can try to remove the bezel on the seat and spray lubricant on the roller, but be careful not to get the seatbelt itself wet with something you don't want on your clothes. I have replaced a few seatbelt assemblies for this concern, and that is the only thing I know that will fix it. There are no TSB's for this, and as it is not a saftey concern because it does not affect the functionality of the seatbelt there will not be a recall either.
