GMC Repair: 1990 suburban stalling, gumout, throttlebody

Question
I start my engine. It runs for about a minute or two. Stalls. Won't start again. Let it sit for around 5 to 10 minutes starts again then same thing, stalls. If I accelerate (give it the gas) after I start it it will run until I let off the gas, then stalls and won't restart for 5 to 10. This is all while I am sitting in the garage. Not moving. Any ideas. 1990 suburban. 350 TBI. Auto trans. New plug wires, rotor, cap, plugs,

Answer
Hi,Rob

If you give it a little gas to keep it running and it will run ok,then i would lean to an IAC problem, try cleaning the throttlebody and the IAC with either Gumout or simular solvent,i think that the IAC {Idle Air Control}is either sticking/stuck or has failed.i would also remove the IAC and clean out the bore that it sits in.
