GMC Repair: BUICK CENTURY CRUISE CONTROL, vacuum lines, vacuum line

Question
FIRST, HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. MY UNCLE DIED AND LEFT ME HIS 1995 BUICK CENTURY. IT IS REALLY LIKE NEW. IT HAS 59,000 MILES ON IT AND I LOVE IT. WHEN I GOT IT MY AUNT SAID THE ONLY THING HE NEVER HAD FIXED WAS THE ABS LIGHT WAS ON AND HE UNPLUGGED IT UNDER THE HOOD. I WAS GOING TO BRING IT TO A FRIEND WHO DOES AUTO REPAIR. SO THE DAY I WAS BRINGING IT I PLUGGED IT BACK IN AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT AND EVERYTHING HAS WORKED FINE EVER SINCE. IT STARTS AND THE ABS LIGHTS COME ON AND THEN GO OFF SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED.  BUT JUST RECENTLY I NOTICE THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. ANY HINTS WHY. I MEAN IT DOES NOTHING. APPRECIATE THE OPTIONS AS TO WHERE THE PROBLEM COULD BE

Answer
Hi,Don

Usually with the cruise cont being inop could be a few things, the servo has an internal leak, the cruise module has itself failed, brake switch failed,no vacuum to the servo,or a cruise enable switch, first check the servo, its located at the engine looks like a large vacuum diaphram, has 2 vacuum lines to it,one large one small, with the engine running see if there is good vacuum to the small line,if thats ok then move to the brake switch, its located at the brake pedal,it has the large vacuum line connected,if the switch bleeds vacuum without the pedal depressed then the switch has failed. Also check the fuses at the fuse box, check fuses for fan/alt Gauges fuse and the Stop Haz fuse, let me know what yo find. Thanks
