GMC Repair: 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT electrical warning, pontiac sunfire, warning lights

Question
I have had my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire for nearly four years. I haven't had any problems with it, that was until about last year. The power windows will go down, but it will tak about a day and a half to get them back up. The lights on the dash work on occasion, but not all at the same time. And, now, different warning lights will come on for a bit, while I am driving, and then turn off, on their own, before I even stop the car or turn off the engine. I know very little about cars and I am afraid if I take it in to a mechanic, I will be swindled into having them fix things that are not broken and over-charge me. What is wrong with the car and how much should it cost to get fixed.
