Does the engine trun over when you try and start the vehicle or do you hear NOTHING when you try and start the vehicle ?>

First you have to determine IF your are NOT getting ignition to the sprk plugs or fuel to the engine before we can do ANY tests.

Fuel pump test:

1. Get yourself a helper.

2. remove the gas cap.

3. have one person listen in the gas tank at the gas cap opening.

4. have the other person turn the ignition switch to the ON position ONLY so as the dash lights come on. Do NOT attempt to start the engine.

5. As soon as the ignition key is turned to the ON position, The person at the gas tank should hear the fuel pump run for TWO SECONDS and then it should STOP.

6. Does it ?.

If you do NOT hear it run, in most cases the fault is the fuel pump.

let me know.

If it is fuel injected, You most likely lost the crank sensor signal or the ignition module. Most times it is the crank sensor.

Answer
Since the vehicle is NOT fuel injected it does NOT have a crank shaft sensor. Therefore you must have a carburated setup with the old stly distributor.

1. Did you test the ignition coil ?.

2. Did you test the ignition module.

3. Dose the distributor turn when you crank the engine ?.

Take off the distributor cap and send me some inside distributor pictures to me at:
