GMC Repair: 95 Sierra brake lights, brake light switch, steering wheel

Question
I have a 95 Sierra 4.3 2wd, and my brake lights do not function correctly. The only time they work is when I am driving and my foot is off the brakes. They do not work when I apply the brake pedal. I'm stumped as to what the problem could be. Any help would be a huge help.

Most likely a faulty BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH that is mounted jsu above the brake pedal Or there is a wiring problem within the TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY within the steering wheel.

More likely a faulty brake light switch. Buy a new one and this will show you what it looks like and it is very simple to replace as it is located just above the brake pedal on a bracket.
