GMC Repair: 2001 GMC Sonoma 4X4 EXT. CAB, gmc sonoma, exact diagnosis

Question
This is weird.  It seems like you have to give this truck a lot of gas for it to start moving like the transmission fluid is very low, but it isn't.  The rpm's sometimes move up to 1600 or so before it starts to move...the condition seems worse in reverse.  I thought it could be the transfer case, torque converter, or the transmission, just not sure, i guess also could be something to do with fuel.  I just know i have a 98 full size with 4.3 and it'll start moving without even pressing the gas and at only 600 rpms!!!!  Help me please!!!(No repair history on this truck as far as i know.

Answer
In order to make an EXACT diagnosis, I would need to drive the vehicle. However form what you stated it would appera that your problem is most likely internal transmission problems of which will require PRESSURE tests to be performed on the trans.
